Atlanta Motor Speedway

Finish Line!

Finish Line!

One of the best field trips our homeschool group took this year was a local one to the Atlanta Motor Speedway.
We met at the gift shop where our tour guide separated us into two groups. While one group raced around the track in a passenger van (at 90 mph!), the other group toured the indoor seating areas and cheered from the stands each time the van crossed the finish line!
The tour included a brief track history, a visit to Petty Garden, a sneak peek at the garages and Victory Lane, and two laps in the Speedway van around the same 1.54-mile track that stars like Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt Jr. race on.
We got to take pictures standing on the finish line, the winner's circle, the pace cars, and more. At the end, the kids were given souvenir race cars to take home too.
It was such a fun and memorable experience!
Tours are just $5 for adults and $2 for children. Ages 6 and under are free. Group rates apply for 10 or more and require reservations.
