Cons of HomeschoolingYes, there are some bad things about homeschoolingI researched the cons of homeschooling before I took my children from school. Even though I heard alot of great things, I was sure there had to be some disadvantages of homeschooling. Where was the list of bad things about homeschooling to balance out all the homeschooling benefits? Here’s my "tongue in cheek" list of the cons of school at home. If you are looking for balance, you will want to read the pros of homeschooling page as soon as you are finished with this. *grin* ![]() Disadvantages of Homeschooling1. Sleeping in on a cold, rainy day is WAY too tempting and easy to do. That messes up my whole schedule (which makes me a little crabby because I’m a schedule kinda girl.) 2. That means I have to say “no” more than I’d like to. ![]() 3. I have to barricade the bathroom door for a minute of privacy. 4. The kids have much more energy when they are rested. 5. If they don’t, I am obligated to levy a consequence which isn’t always fun for me. 6. I spend an hour or more on the road every day taking kids to lessons and activities. (But at least they are ones that I choose.) ![]() More cons of homeschooling... 7. Yes they are, just in different places. 8. I have to plan for that cool stuff and it ain’t always easy. 9. That gets old. Sometimes you just want to slurp your milk at the table. 10. We have to host playdates at our house or drive to a friend’s house because we live in the middle of nowhere. 11. Making the store a learning experience can make a trip for milk and bread last 2 hours. 12. We are going to need spine surgery from having to carry such heavy bags. 13. I have to teach them how to do it which takes twice as long as doing it myself. 14. My house is full of dirt and snow tracked through by kids who love to be outside. ![]() So, there you have it. Just a few of the reasons homeschooling can be hard. Remember, if you want to chuckle, you need to link to homeschooling benefits before you read anything else! See you there!
