Homeschooling on a budget is possible if you are willing to research and put some things together on your own. The internet is changing how many people homeschool. There are a variety of free online homeschooling curriculum programs and supplements available for different subjects. If you are looking for internet resources check these out: Ambleside Online - a free Charlotte Mason method curriculum. Kiddie Records - Listen to some of your favorite childhood records and share them with your kids. Story Nory - Publishes a new audio story every week. Download and listen or just play. Homeschool Freebie of the Day - A free download every weekday, but you have to get it quick because each download is available for one day only. Sign up for their e-mail to get a list at the beginning of each week of what will be available. After the internet, your next stop for free homeschool curriculum is your local library. Smaller libraries have books and usually videos or DVD's that can be used to educate your child for free. Check to see if your library participates in the Inter Library Loan program. This allows you to request materials from other (often larger) libraries for free or for a very minimal cost to help cover the postage. Larger libraries often have curriculum programs and resource materials available for check out. Your local homeschool support group may have a private library or used curriculum giveaway system. Our local group get good condition "discards" for public and private schools as well as individuals that are then made available to members of the group free of charge.
