Homeschool Reading

Learning to Read and Reading to Learn

So, you're worried about teaching homeschool reading? Obviously, it has to be done. The good news is, it doesn't have to be done like the traditional school to be effective.

Typically, children spend the first few years of their formal schooling learning to read and the rest of their lives (hopefully) reading to learn. These will probably be the goals for your homeschool.

As a homeschool parent you should read aloud to your child every day. Even as the children get older, continue this practice. It is so beneficial. There is something calming about hearing someone else read. My husband and I often take turns on read aloud duty so the other can have the pleasure of listening.
