Research Against HomeschoolingCan Negative Effects of Homeschooling Be Proved? If you are looking for research against homeschooling to help you make a decison for your family, you are not alone. You are smart to search out the pros and cons of homeschooling before making such a change in your lifestyle. Before I removed my children from government school, I scoured the internet for negative effects of homeschooling because I wanted to be fully aware of any potential problems I might encounter. Unfortunately, research on the disadvantages of homeschooling is hard to find. In fact, research on the benefits of homeschooling is equally hard to find. Most data is anecdotal. Even though the homeschool movement is growing by leaps and bounds, the last available estimates indicate that homeschoolers account for only about 2.2% of the American student population. (NCES - 2003) Hardly a large enough number to warrant funding a massive study. In my opinion, this is one of the main reasons that makes statistical research on the pros and cons of homeschooling so hard to find.
