Saxon Math
by April
I have been using Saxon math for many years. We have used, so far, grades 1 through Saxon 7/6. This program has been a Godsend for a former math-phobic. Math was one area where I felt less than confident in teaching. But Saxon Match does it all for you. The lessons in grades 1-3 are all scripted in the teacher's manual. These people have thought of the easiest ways to explain difficult topics, such as borrowing in subtraction. Manipulatives are used extensively in the younger grades especially, but they are used many times in the older ones as well. Starting in the fourth grade, the lessons are designed to be self-taught by the student. The explanations are clear and there are plenty of example problems to demonstrate the topic. |
