Times Tales

by Julie
(St. Petersburg, FL)

I ordered Times Tales on a whim. My kids were doing fine with math, but like alot of kids, they were slow at recalling the "harder" times tables...6x6 thru 9x9.

Both of my children LOVE stories and can remember the smallest details of things they read or hear, so I thought combining math with the verbal they are so good at couldn't hurt.

WOW! After an hour of "memorizing" the short stories they were dying to know how these stories related to math. Once I told them the light bulb went off.

"OHHHHH! That is SO COOL!!!! This kind of math is fun!"

You really have to see it to understand. The directions for the parent are very simple and the whole program takes an hour (maybe 2.)

I have loaned this out to countless people in my homeschool (and traditional school) circle of friends and they have been amazed at the results.

The links I have included for this math product let you see a sample..."Mr. and Mrs. Snowman eat 6 snowcones 4 times a day." This story teaches them that 8x8=64 (Mr. and Mrs. Snowman look like 8's.) The trick is to get them to learn the stories BEFORE they learn the "secret".

This is a great supplement to your math lesson plans especially if you have visual or auditory learners!
